Dr. Joyce and Brad Lamson-Scribner
Supporting healthcare heroes and the hospital they love
Dr. Joyce Lamson-Scribner had a terrific nursing career at Paoli Hospital, earned a PhD, and became a nursing instructor at Villanova University. At Paoli, she fell in love with and married John Willens, MD, then the Medical Director of Anesthesiology. When John died in 1996, she was able to continue his legacy of supporting hospital colleagues with their educational expenses by establishing an endowment fund for the annual Willens Scholarship. Her next great fortune was to meet her current husband, Brad Lamson-Scribner, who shared her commitment to Paoli Hospital.
Brad and Joyce consider it a privilege to be able to help others. They cite their desire to fund the Willens Scholarship in perpetuity, as well as provide Paoli Hospital with the resources to maintain exceptional care, as the reasons they included the hospital as a beneficiary of their estate.
As Joyce says, "Meeting the winners of the Willens Scholarship over the years has been inspiring. There have been so many worthy employees who we feel honored to be able to help." Brad chimes in, "We've included Paoli Hospital in our will to support our healthcare heroes and the hospital we love."
Joyce and Brad hope that others share their desire to give back and will consider including Paoli Hospital in their financial plans.
